SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -- A new tech center for high school juniors and seniors opens tonight in Spokane Valley.
Spokane Valley Tech is a joint venture between Central, East, West Valley and Freeman school districts. The school opened Tuesday night and it will accommodate 200 students.
The students will get credit at their high school and they can earn college credit or get professional certification for a career.
Classes offered include aerospace, fire science and sports medicine. Leaders of the school said by teaming up the four districts it can help pay for the school.
On Tuesday, some students were already at the tech center getting iPads before classes begins. The latest phase of the project was funded by the state.
Leaders hope to eventually teach 500 students at Spokane Valley Tech and offer 10 different programs at the site.
