SPOKANE, Wash. -- A local designer is making her dream a reality. She is taking her clothing collection to New York for Fashion Week.

Alyssa Perez said she can’t believe she will be headed to New York in just a few weeks to showcase her clothes in The Sugar Arts and Fashion Show.

Recruiters tour around the country looking for top designers for their special show during New York Fashion Week.  The recruiters saw her dressed on Facebook and contacted her.

Perez is the designer for Spokane’s Eco Chic and will be showcasing her 8-piece collection in September. Most of her clothing is made out of recycled material and is hand stitched by Perez.

Perez said she will be surrounded by top designers from around the world and says this is her chance to get noticed and maybe one making it into the big fashion show.

“Someday that would be amazing. You have to start somewhere though, so hopefully it’s just the beginning,” said Perez.

Perez said it’s going to cost about $10,000 to send her team to New York. Click here to help her raise money.
