HILLYARD, Wash. -- The 102nd Hillyard Festival is well underway despite Friday’s rain.
More than 100 vendors at the Hillyard festival are hoping for a successful weekend. They are trying to keep a positive attitude despite the negative impact rain could have on customer turnout.
The majority of vendors are also small business owners who rely on community events to maintain their bottom line.
“As a small business owner, I am not appreciating this. But in the Northwest, we desperately need the rain. It’s been hot and dry for way too long,” said vendor, Patricia Alberts.
The festival runs through 10:00 p.m. Friday. It starts back up at 10 Saturday and again on Sunday.
