HILLSBORO – After setting up a surveillance camera, detectives nabbed a suspect who was stealing money from residents of a senior living center Wednesday.
At 2:30p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies had all the evidence they needed after catching 18-year-old James Eldridge of Hillsboro on camera stealing cash from a resident of Rosewood Specialty Care center in Hillsboro, said Sgt. David Thompson with the sheriff’s department.
The investigation began in January with detectives learned someone was stealing cash from a resident’s room at the facility. With that person’s permission, detectives set up a camera and recorded video of Eldridge stealing money, Thompson said.
Eldridge was a general helper at the facility and was fired.
He was booked in the Washington County Jail on charges of criminal mistreatment and theft.
