MANCHESTER, Mo. (KMOV) – Dash cam video has been released showing a Manchester police officer pulling an unconscious driver from a burning car before it exploded Tuesday night.

Police said Officer Gerad Gonzalez was on routine patrol around 9:50 p.m. when a passerby told him about a fiery accident near the intersection of Dougherty Ferry and Carman.

Gonzalez, 36, said he headed towards the crash and saw the two vehicles involved, a Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Blazer, engulfed in flames.

In the video, Gonzalez can be seen running to the burning Tahoe.

Gonzales said he climbed into the passenger side and pulled the driver over the center console. He then, with the help of a good Samaritan who stopped at the scene, pulled the driver from the burning wreckage.

The driver of the Tahoe was later taken to the hospital, where he was treated for injuries. According to Gonzalez, there was lots of blood at the scene and it was obvious the victim suffered a head injury.

Officials said the driver of the Blazer made it out safely. The female driver was later taken to the hospital as a precaution.
