We hope to send 400 packages overseas this year to our men and women who will be away from their families this holiday season as part of our third annual Treats 2 Troops project.

So far, KREM 2 and Washington Trust Banks have had a tremendous response from the community, including a donation of about 2,000 AA batteries from Batteries Plus Bulbs, 500 Keurig “K-Cups” from a Palouse wheat farmer, 500 energy drink mixes from the regional manager of Zipfizz, who happens to live in Spokane. An extreme ‘couponer’ also donated thousands of items including razors for our troops.

But, the final four days of collection, we hope you’ll help us gather more items to make sure we fill the boxes going overseas. Of our top ten items, the ones we’ve received the fewest donations of are magazines, unscented baby wipes, protein bars and drink mixes.

You can drop off donations at local Washington Trust Bank locations and KREM 2 through Friday, Nov. 22.
