COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho -- Authorities say a 13-vehicle wreck on Highway 95 in Coeur d’Alene may have been caused by a woman suffering a medical condition.
At 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said a woman driving a yellow moving van on Highway 95 in between Kathleen and Bosanko plowed into a dozen other vehicles.
That driver was taken by ambulance to a hospital. Police said there were other injuries, but did not say how many.
The crash shut down all northbound lanes of the highway for several hours. Southbound traffic was able to get through.
Investigators are still trying to determine how it happened. Police say the woman driving the moving van was traveling fast when the crash occurred.
Officers said her wheels were still spinning after the van came to a rest.
Police said the woman passed a field sobriety test.
The crash was cleared, and the highway was re-opened to traffic just after 5:30 p.m.
