SPOKANE, Wash.--Strong winds and downed trees closed State Route 206 near Mt. Spokane Sunday night and the road remained closed Monday night.
The highway is closed because crews can not get into an area crowded with trees to clear the debris.
There were signs warning of Highway 206 closed off on Mount Carlton Road.
Drivers heading up the mountain were forced to turn around.
The Department of Transportation said the combination of the weather and the trees around the road makes it a mystery of when and where debris may fall.
Crews have not had a change to check out the current damage and do not know how long it will take to clear the area.
Crews hope to get into the closed off area Tuesday morning when winds are expected to slow down.
