ATHOL, Idaho-- A new four-lane stretch of U.S. 95 near Silverwood Theme Park in North Idaho opens to traffic November 1st.

Construction crews were getting ready to open the highway between Hayden and Athol Thursday. The new lanes are expected to help boost safety for drivers.

Once the new lanes open, drivers can get off New Frontage Road and start using the main highway again.

Crews were expected to end on schedule.

There are more phases planned on the highway beyond Silverwood. Crews will widen about six more miles of Highway 95 and expect to have it done by 2014.
