SPOKANE -- Neighbors in Northwest Spokane say rollover crashes like one that happened Monday morning happen too often in their area.

A green van driving east on Francis hit a truck trying to make a left onto Assembly around 9:30 a.m. The truck rolled, trapping the elderly driver in the cab of the vehicle.

Firefighters say the driver of the van, a man in his 40's, tried to help the elderly driver out of the truck, but was unable. Firefighters had to break the windshield of the truck to get him free. He suffered only minor injuries.

Neighbors told KREM 2 News they see crashes like these weekly, and believe it is because drivers speed on Francis. Some neighbors said they hope the City of Spokane will install a stoplight in their neighborhood to even traffic flow and force speeders to slow down.
