SPOKANE- A wrong-way driver caused a head-on collision with a FedEx truck Thursday.

Police say a Honda CRV was speeding while driving against traffic on Southeast Blvd. Thursday afternoon. The driver, San Luong, 40, collided with the FedEx truck near 29th.

Spokane Police say a witness estimated his speed at 60-70 mph.

“It was very traumatic. You see this on TV. When you see it in person, it’s totally different,” Amy Warren, a witness, said.

MedStar was called to the scene. Luong was airlifted with severe injuries and was still in critical condition Friday. The FedEx driver was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center for minor injuries.

Police say alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

Southeast was shut down for hours and drivers dealt with major traffic.

Police say a third car was run off the road. That driver was not injured.
