SPOKANE, Wash. -- Spokane Police arrested a convicted felon after a short pursuit Wednesday afternoon.
Spokane Police closed the intersection of Perry and Indiana after the pursuit ended in a minor crash.
Police said Tyler Tofsrud, 23, is in custody.
Officers spotted a car near the intersection of Hamilton and Mission that was believed to be part of a stolen car investigation from Tuesday. Police said the car was recovered yesterday but they were still searching for a suspect. Spokane Police had reason to believe the suspect was armed with a handgun.
When officers tried to stop Tofsrud, authorities said he tried to get away. Officials said the suspect clipped a woman in a Cadillac near Perry and Indiana, then hit a pole and crashed.
Police determined Tofsrud was not the driver in yesterday’s pursuit but he was a wanted felon. Authorities said Tofsrud had a gun in his possession.
Detectives seized Tofsrud's car to execute a search warrant for the gun. Tofsrud was arrested for attempting to elude a police vehicle. It is also illegal for Tofsrud to possess a firearm.
No one was injured. More charges are likely as the investigation continues.
