SPOKANE -- The Washington State Patrol is no longer investigating an early morning rollover wreck as a crime scene.
WSP says Jesse Cox, 19, was found dead around 5:45 a.m. at Highway 395 and Hatch.
The truck rolled off the highway in a section of the road without a guardrail. Authorities said the vehicle rolled through a field and took out a fence. It landed in the yard of a home on Ballard Road. Investigators are not sure how many times the truck rolled.
Cox was ejected, and he landed in some nearby bushes. The medical examiner says Cox died of internal injuries.
A purse with ID was located at the scene and the driver’s seat was moved close to the steering wheel.
Authorities initially thought someone else might have been driving the truck and took off after the wreck, but have since identified Cox as the driver of the truck.
WSP is not sure who called in the crash, and it does not have any witnesses.
No other vehicles appear to be involved.
Cox’s family last heard from him around 10 p.m. Thursday. They say he had a friend who lives in Deer Park, but they’re not sure why he was on Highway 395.
Cox leaves behind a fiancé.
