SPOKANE, Wash. -- Multiple crashes and slide-offs were reported on the Spokane area's icy roads Thursday morning.
Washington State Patrol responded to a nasty wreck early Thursday near Airway Heights, not far from Spokane International Airport. Multiple people suffered minor injuries in the wreck around 6:15 a.m. near Highway 2 and Highway 195. Authorities said icy roads were likely a factor in the crash.
The road was partially blocked while crews cleaned up the scene. The scene was cleared at 8:05 a.m.
Another crash in the same area sent two people to the hospital. According to investigators, the driver of a Toyota Camry lost control and the Camry collided with an unoccupied car parked on the right shoulder of Highway 195 two miles south of Spokane. The Camry then spun into the guardrail.
Washington State troopers said the driver was traveling too fast for conditions and charges were expected.
Meanwhile, a driver suffered serious injuries after rolling his car on the Palouse Highway near Highway 27. Authorities said the driver was also driving too fast for conditions.
