Five Mile Road closed between Ash and Wedgewood

SPOKANE COUNTY -- Five Mile Road from Ash Street to Wedgewood Street will be closed Thursday, Nov. 5, for paving.  Additionally, Austin Road from Strong to Five Mile roads will be closed to traffic.  The STA park and ride lost at Five Mile Road and Ash Street will also be closed.  Motorists will be detoured to Cedar Street.

The closure is part of the Five Mile Road from Austin to Lincoln roads rehabilitation project.  The Five Mile Road project is progressing and the base paving for the remainder of the project is expected to be done the week of November 16.  This project will widen and rebuild the street to 44 feet to include curbs and a continuous sidewalk on the west side, a 5-ft. bike lane north and shared-use bike lane south on Five Mile Road from Austin to Lincoln roads.

Additionally, from Stratton Avenue to Lincoln Road, trees, sewer and water lines, grass swales, a two-way left turn lane will be installed.  A truck climbing lane will be added from Austin Road to Stratton Avenue.  Five Mile Road from Austin Road to Alberta Street will have two northbound lanes and one southbound lane.  Five Mile Road from Alberta Street to Lincoln Road will have one lane in each direction with a center turn lane.
