SPOKANE, Wash. -- After some delays, part of a busy local road on Spokane’s South Hill is set to re-open to traffic.
Neighbors have waited more than three months for construction to finish on the portion of 29th west of Grand.
Following multiple pushbacks, the day is here. The stretch of 29th Avenue from Grand to Bernard is open.
Neighbors and businesses say formerly pothole-filled street need repairs, and they’re glad to see construction come to a close.
“It wasn’t the straightest distance between two points. A lot of time you have to circle around and take side streets. Just a real inconvenience,” Irv Broughton, a local instructor, said.
The second phase of the project, which will focus on 29th from Bernard to High Drive, will begin next summer.
