SPOKANE--Some South Hill homeowners are fed up with drivers vandalizing and harassing local construction crews.

One family's plumbing pipes collapsed, but to fix the situation workers had to shut down the road in front of their house near 37th and Manito.

Not only are drivers ignoring the construction signs in front of the home, they’ve also been harassing and getting in fights with the construction crew, as well as destroying equipment.

The house is across the street from the contentious Jefferson Elementary construction site, something some neighbors fought against.  Homeowner Misty Olson says many assume that’s what the closure is all about.

The construction is detouring drivers two blocks south, but hundreds are driving through anyway.  Some drivers are even stopping and asking for proof of a permit from the crews.

Olson says it’s all just slowing down the job from getting done.
