SPOKANE VALLEY -- Zanco Properties faces more fines from Spokane County over repair work done at an apartment building, and possible asbestos.

SCRAA is making Zanco test for asbestos in this abandoned apartment.

Officials at the Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency, formerly known as SCAPCA, saw a recent KREM 2 News report on Stoneridge Apartments in Spokane Valley.

Last week, tenant Angela Brady took KREM 2 News inside an abandoned apartment next door to her where the ceiling had partially fallen in, resulting in leaks in both apartments.

SRAA is now making sure Zanco Properties does not break the law with the repairs.

Earlier this year, SRAA fined Zanco Properties $1,900 over repairs made in another Stoneridge apartment. SRAA said Zanco didn't test the ceiling for asbestos, which came back positive.

Water damage on the ceiling in Brady's apartment has not been fixed yet, and neither has the hole in the apartment next door.

SRAA is concerned about exposure to asbestos because the ceiling is breaking away in multiple places, and particles are on the floor.

Test results will be into SRAA by Wednesday. Zanco Properties could face more fines.
