COEUR d'ALENE -- The Kootenai County Sheriff's Department is finished with its initial investigation of a deadly boating accident that happened Monday near Carlin Bay on Lake Coeur d'Alene.
Deputies say 70 year old Marvin Markham was operating the boat with several passengers on board. Leisha Konrad, 39, was one of them, the other five people were minors.
Deputies say Markham's 13 year old grandson was in the water getting ready to wake board, when he decided he wanted to change life-jackets. Markham thought the boat was in neutral, when his grandson swam to it, he was hit by the propeller.
The teen was immediately brought to the shoreline and taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center by Helicopter, where he died from his injuries.
The accident is still under investigation by the Kootenai County Marine Division, but they say alcohol was not a factor.
