Rathdrum, Idaho -- Police arrested a man who they say tried to enter a home at the 7100 block of Manchester Street.

The owner of this Rathdrum home was stabbed after an attempted burglary Monday morning.

Shawn McDonald, 20, was arrested and booked on charges of aggravated battery and burglary.

Police say McDonald stabbed the homeowner at approximately 1:19 a.m.

The homeowner was transported to Kootenai Medical Center for treatment to a wound that was non-life threatening.

Kootenai County Sheriff's Detectives K-9 officers tracked the suspect to a field in the area of the home.
