OROFINO, Idaho -- A new safety report by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers shows the Dworshak Dam near Orofino, Idaho has major structural deficiencies.

The government assigns safety ratings to all of its dams nationwide. Inspectors say they consider the problems at Dworshak Dam "urgent" and that it's "potentially unsafe". However, there's no evidence the dam is in danger of collapsing.

Engineers say water is leaking through the foundation of the dam, which is more than 600 feet tall and 3200 feet long. It was finished in 1973 at a cost of $300 million, according to the Corps of Engineers website.
