SPOKANE -- Spokane Police released surveillance video Wednesday showing a man trying to rob the Howard Johnson hotel on North Division last week.

Surveillance video shows the robber demanding cash.

The suspect is a white man in his 30's with scruffy facial hair. he was wearing a stocking hat and gloves.

The video shows the man backing his car into the parking lot around midnight and walking into the lobby talking on a cell phone. He then approached the clerks and slammed his handgun on the counter and demanded money.

One of the clerks tells the man he is on surveillance camera, but he continues to demand cash. Once the clerks threaten to call 911, the robber walks out of the hotel and drives away.
