Spokane County Sheriff releases identity of homicide victim

SPOKANE -- A forensic anthropologist at the King County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified human remains found in South Spokane last month as Sebastian Lee Esquibel, a 25-year-old Hispanic male. KREM The body found in South Spokane was identified as Sebastian Lee Esquibel Katherine Taylor of the King County Medical Examiners office used x-rays of the victim’s sinus cavities to make positive identification. Recent x-rays were located at a Spokane hospital where Esquibel had been treated for an injury to his head or face, and they were compared with x-rays of the skull removed from the Darknell Road site. Esquibel was originally from Colorado, but had lived in Spokane since May of 2003. Esquibel leaves a wife and two small children in Spokane and the wife has been notified of his demise. Esquibel’s remains were discovered beneath a slash pile on January 16 th by a family cutting firewood out of the discarded wood. His legs were bound with automotive jumper cables and it appeared he had been there for quite some time. Detective Jim Dresback said Friday that the last time Esquibel was known to be alive was on May 18, 2005 when he was released from the Spokane County Jail.
