Suspects in stolen car chase, crash arrested

SPOKANE -- Two people have been arrested and are being charged for A police chase involving a stolen car that ended with a crash on Spokane's South Hill Thursday night.

The chase started near Ferris High School and ended at Thor and Hartson when the driver of the stolen car slammed into a pole.

The driver of this stolen Acura crashed on Spokane's South Hill.

Police arrested 43 year old Paul Nelson and 57 year old Joanna Zelonis just after 9pm Thursday.

They say the two tried to elude police while driving a stolen car, following a traffic stop at the intersection of 17th and Ray on Spokane's South Hill.

They collided with another car during the attempted escape. No one in that car was hurt.

The chase came to an end at the intersection of Ray and Hartson when Nelson slammed the car into a utility pole.

Both suspects jumped out and tried to flee, but were quickly caught.

Nelson now faces felony charges of driving a stolen car, attempting to elude a police officer and meth possession.

Zelonis was charged with second degree vehicle theft.

Both people in the car suffered minor bumps and bruises. They were checked out by paramedics and then arrested on suspicion of car theft.
