KREM 2 News is on pothole patrol

10:15 AM PST on Tuesday, January 8, 2008

KREM.com

SPOKANE -- KREM 2 News is on pothole patrol again this year. If you see (or drive over) a problem pothole, tell us and we'll report it-- whether it's in Spokane, North Idaho or anywhere else.

This year could be one of the worst for potholes in recent memory, because of above-average snowfall and frequent freeze-thaw conditions.

Another pothole sent to KREM.com from a viewer in Spokane.

The freeze-thaw cycle causes moisture under the surface of the road to freeze and then melt, which then causes the pavement to collapse. It's that collapse that creates a pothole.

The KREM 2 Pothole Patrol has reported hundreds of potholes to local street crews over the past six years and we check to make sure they're being fixed.
