Shoppers scramble to safety as Rosauers roof collapses

SPOKANE -- The Rosauers store near Francis and Ash in North Spokane suffered what firefighters call a 'catastrophic' roof collapse Monday afternoon, forcing terrified shoppers and employees to scurry outside.
A section measuring between 15,000 and 25,000 square feet gave way under the weight of heavy snow around 4:45pm. Luckily, only one person suffered minor injuries.

Dozens of firefighters rushed to the scene to assess damage and make sure everyone was accounted for. The collapse happened over the produce section, sending water and debris crashing down to the floor.
Structural engineers plan to examine the building to figure out exactly how bad the damage is. Police have sealed off the store to make sure no one goes inside.
