Gonzaga's freshman enrollment eclipses last year's figure

SPOKANE -- Gonzaga University is losing no steam in its popularity among high school seniors.

Gonzaga's 2008-09 incoming freshman class will set a record with 1,100 students. Last year, 1,036 freshman hit the campus marking the first time in the school's history a freshman class ever topped 1,000.
The 2008-09 freshman class topped 1,100 besting last year's record freshman enrollment of 1,036 students.
Last year's class marked the first time Gonzaga University went above the 1,000-student mark for an incoming class.
University officials are expecting an anticipated undergraduate enrollment of 4,450 students compared to 4,386 last year.
National acclaim for the small Jesuit university continues to generate more acclaim for the university, though officials there still desire to keep Gonzaga small and intimate for its students and professors.
