PULLMAN – Redshirt freshman James Watson has left the Washington State University men’s basketball program and will pursue his basketball and academic careers at a junior college.

“We wish James nothing but the best,” said head coach Ken Bone.

Watson saw action in 29 of the Cougars 31 games last year, averaging nearly two points and two rebounds an outing during his redshirt freshman season in 2009-10.

At the conclusion of the school year, Watson was ruled ineligible for the 2010 fall semester due to academic reasons.

Watson is the fourth Cougar basketball player to transfer from the program this offseason. Shadle Park High School product Anthony Brown, Xavier Thames (San Diego State), and Michael Harthun (Portland State) also decided to move on.
