LOS ANGELES -- Washington State linebacker Alex Hoffman-Ellis is hoping to hear his name called in the upcoming NFL Draft.
The annual event starts on Thursday and runs through Saturday in New York City.
Hoffman-Ellis was originally expected to be an undrafted free agent, but after impressive workouts, he's now projected to go as high as the fifth round.
Making it to the NFL would be quite a feat for Hoffman-Ellis. He didn't even start playing football until his senior year of high school, and then only had one FBS offer (from Washington State) out of junior college. When you add his three seasons at Wazzu on top of that, Hoffman-Ellis has only played football for five years of his life.
