PULLMAN -- Washington State University and Brigham Young University will play a home-and-home football series beginning in 2012.

WSU will open its 2012 season at BYU September 1st with the return game the following year in Martin Stadium.

“It has been my desire since arriving at Washington State to schedule quality nonconference opponents in a home-and-home series,” said WSU Director of Athletics Bill Moos. “This falls in line with future schedules which include series with Wisconsin and Boise State.”

BYU holds a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series, with BYU capturing a 38-36 win at the 1981 Holiday Bowl in the first meeting. In 1989, Washington State captured a 46-41 upset win over No. 24 BYU in Provo followed by a 50-36 BYU victory the following season.
