PULLMAN -- The Washington State football team will face newly-added Pacific-12 Conference foes Colorado and Utah, while keeping its traditional Northwest rivalries with Oregon, Oregon State and Washington, as part of its 2011 schedule.
The Cougars will open its 2011 season at home against Idaho State (Sept. 3), the first meeting between the two schools. The following week WSU will host UNLV (Sept. 10), marking the first meeting between the schools since WSU posted a 40-13 victory during the 1991 season.
The Cougars will conclude its nonconference schedule at San Diego State (Sept. 17), its first of three-consecutive road games. The last time these teams met WSU posted a 45-17 win at Qwest Field in Seattle during the 2007 season.
Following its lone bye week of the season, WSU opens Pac-12 play with a pair of road games, the first coming at Colorado (Oct. 1). WSU last faced the Buffaloes during the 2004 season when the game was played at Qwest Field. The following week the Cougars face their lone southern California opponent with a contest at UCLA (Oct. 8).
Consecutive games against Stanford (Oct. 15) and Oregon State (Oct. 22) are the first of four home conference games during the 2011 season. The other two come against Arizona State (Nov. 12) followed by the home finale against Utah (Nov. 19). The meeting against the Utes will be the first since the 2000 season, a 38-21 Cougars win in Utah.
The three remaining conference road games come at Oregon (Oct. 29) and California (Nov. 5), followed by the season-ending Apple Cup at Washington (Nov. 26).
