SPOKANE -- The Mike Leach era at Washington State finally reached the football field on Thursday with the opening of spring drills.
Leach, who previosly led Texas Tech to ten bowl games in ten seasons, was hired in November to bring his high-powered passing attack to Washington State, which posted a 9-40 record over the previous four seasons under fired coach Paul Wulff.
Washington State has 47 returning lettermen and 13 starters back from last year's squad that finished 4-8.
Thursday's practice was the first of 15 for the Cougars this spring. They wrap up drills with the annual Crimson and Gray Game on April 21st at Joe Albi Stadium in Spokane.
