OMAHA, Neb. -- New Washington State football coach Mike Leach says he always expected to return to the sideline after getting fired at Texas Tech.
Leach said Wednesday he was able to do enjoyable things he never would have otherwise if he hadn't been out of the game for two years.
Leach held a news conference before he appeared as the featured speaker at the Omaha Sports Banquet.
Leach was fired after ten seasons at Texas Tech amid accusations he mistreated a player who had a concussion. The player was Adam James, son of former ESPN football commentator Craig James.
Leach has denied the allegations. He sued ESPN Inc. and a Dallas public-relations firm for libel and slander. The case hasn't gone to trial.
