PULLMAN -- The marijuana charges against former Washington State basketball player DeAngelo Casto were dismissed in Whitman County District Court on Thursday.

That's according to Casto's attorney Tim Esser, who talked to KREM 2 Sports on Thursday night from his home in Pullman.

The judge overseeing the case said the evidence against Casto was obtained unlawfully, so he was cleared of all wrongdoing.

Casto, who graduated from Ferris High School, was arrested on March 22nd after Pullman Police saw him rolling a marijuana cigarette inside his apartment.

Washington State originally suspended Casto indefinitely, but athletic director Bill Moos reinstated him the following day citing "unique circumstances" involving the case.

Casto is skipping his senior season for a chance to play in the NBA. If that doesn't work out for him, he'll likely play overseas.
