PULLMAN - The Cougs are just six days into fall camp, but the daily grind is already starting to set in.
Washington State practiced in pads for the second time Tuesday, and took their workout to Martin Stadium. It was the sixth of 10 straight days before their first day off. Quarterback Jeff Tuel referred to this period as the 'dog days'.
Head Coach Mike Leach says he thought they had a good practice, but need to get better at executing when they're tired.
There's no doubt the repetitive nature of fall camp is an exercise in mental toughness. Leach thinks that teams should be able to liven up camp by scrimmaging against or practicing with other programs that they don't face during the season.
Leach said he has voiced the idea, but that it was received with a "befuddled look".
