PULLMAN -- The son of former Seattle Mariners star Ken Griffey, Jr. has turned down a scholarship offer from Washington State to play college football at Arizona instead.

Trey Griffey, a wide receiver from Orlando, Florida, committed to the Wildcats after taking an official visit to the school last week. He also visited Arizona State the week before that.

Griffey didn't just turn his back on WSU, he was also offered scholarships by Iowa State, Michigan State, and Ball State, among others.

Griffey is listed as a three-star prospect (out of five) by Rivals.com. He played in the Under Armour All-America High School Football Game on January 5th in Florida. The game was nationally televised on ESPN.
