PULLMAN - It wasn't a dominating performance, and the margin of victory was slim. But in the end, it went down as a Washington State win, and nothing builds the confidence of a developing program like walking off the field victorious.

Any demons from their season-opening loss at BYU appear gone, following the Cougars' 24-20 victory over Eastern Washington in Saturday's 2012 Martin Stadium debut.

Offensively, Mike Leach's crew finished off three touchdown drives - something they failed to do in Provo. Defensively, WSU picked off two passes, caused the Eagles' attack to stall through much of the second half, and kept EWU out of the end zone on the final play of the game.

There is still work to be done, as WSU prepares for a visit to 0-2 UNLV Friday at 6:00 p.m., but it sure beats the feeling they had a week ago.

"You know how to win now, so you keep building on it and that's how you stack wins on top of wins," WSU linebacker Darryl Monroe said.
