PULLMAN, Wash--Washington State University said today that quarterback Marshall Lobbestael tore two knee ligaments against Oregon State on Saturday and will be out for the season.

WSU quarterback Marshall Lobbestael is examined by doctors after he was injured in the fourth quarter against Oregon State.

Lobbestael was WSU's third-string quarterback at the start of the season, but started the last three games when the two guys in front of him went down with injuries.

Lobbestael tore his ACL and MCL in his left knee. His rehab will last about nine months.

Lobbestael was 53 for 103 for 571 yards on the season with four touchdowns and four interceptions.

One of those quarterbacks that Lobbestael replaced, Kevin Lopina, looks to be the early favorite to start against USC on Saturday in Martin Stadium. Lopina returned to practice this week after he started to recover from a fractured bone in his back that he suffered earlier in the year. Lopina has missed three games.

WSU is a 45-point underdog to Pac-10 heavyweight USC.
