SPOKANE -- The Spokane Shock announced on Wednesday that quarterback Erik Meyer is officially back for the 2012 season.
Meyer, who was acquired in a mid-season trade with Utah last year, completed 75% of his passes (80/107) for 967 yards and 22 touchdowns in five games with the Shock last season.
“There is no question that this is a QB-driven league and Erik is one of the best in the game,” head coach Andy Olson said. “He showed complete command of the offense last year. We expect him to continue to improve his game and assert himself as one of the best in the AFL."
Meyer was a member of Spokane’s 2010 ArenaBowl XXIII Championship team, but he spent most of the season serving as the backup to Kyle Rowley.
Prior to his AFL career, Meyer played in the NFL, NFL Europe, and the CFL. He was also a Walter Payton Award winner at Eastern Washington University.
