SPOKANE -- The Spokane Shock quarterback position continues to evolve.

The team released Casey Hansen on Thursday. Hansen started the last two games for Spokane, completing just 54% of his passes. He tossed eight touchdowns and one interception.

With Kyle Rowley and Bill Stull on Injured Reserve through next week's game against Philadelphia, newly acquired Erik Meyer will get the start against the Soul.

The Shock traded the Utah Blaze for Meyer on Monday. The former Eastern Washington quarterback was a backup for the Shock last season before an injury knocked him out for the year.

Spokane doesn't play until next Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 5pm at Veterans Memorial Arena. The game will be televised on the NFL Network.
