SPOKANE VALLEY -- The Spokane Shock are quickly approaching the beginning of the 2011 season, and final cuts need to be made to the team's roster.

Right now, 35 players are still in camp. By Friday, that number has to be whiddled down to 24 in order for the final roster to be set for the season-opener in a week-and-a-half.

Head coach Rob Keefe doesn't enjoy this part of his job, but it's gotta be done.

"It's always hard when you have to release players," Keefe says. "But when you're so jumbled because you have a lot of good players, that's a good thing. Some guys are going to be very disappointed, but you can't go wrong with the few we're about to choose. We're getting there, but we're going to need about another day to decide...but we're going to put a good team together".

The Shock's season opener at the SaberCats will air LIVE on KREM 2 at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 11th.
