SPOKANE -- In a game that saw six quarterbacks play (four for Spokane, two for Dallas), the Spokane Shock defeated the Dallas Vigilantes 71-49 Saturday night.

Spokane’s 71 points is its highest point total this season.

Spokane quarterback Bill Stull, who made his first start of the season, and back-up Kyle Rowley both left the game with injuries. Without any QB’s left on the roster, Spokane called on wide receiver Chas Gessner and wide receiver Emery Sammons to take over in the fourth quarter. Vigilante quarterback Dan Raudabaugh left the game after three quarters of play and was relieved by quarterback Luke Drone who finished the game for Dallas.

Dallas drew first blood scoring on a four-play 45-yard drive that was capped off on a Raudabaugh to Tiger Jones 23- yard touchdown pass. Spokane came roaring back with a touchdown of their own on an eight-yard touchdown pass from Stull to wide receiver Raul Vijil.

After both teams continued to exchange scores but Spokane’s defense came up with the first defensive stop of the game in the second quarter. As Raudabaugh dropped back to pass, the ball slipped out of his hand for a fumble that was scooped up by defensive Lance Witherspoon for a Shock touchdown and gave Spokane their first lead of the game.

Spokane ended the first half with their highest point total of the season with a 41-26 lead.

The Shock defense continued to apply pressure to the Dallas offense and generated four more stops including a safety forced by defensive lineman Khreem Smith who dropped Raudabaugh in the third quarter. Smith, who was selected as the defensive player of the game, ended the night with 1.5 sacks.

Spokane’s offense continued to pour it on, scoring the ensuing position with a 23-yard TD from Rowley to wide receiver Greg Orton. Orton and Vijil tied for the team lead in receptions (seven) and touchdown receptions (3).

Rowley finished the game with five passing touchdowns and completed 64% of his attempts. Stull finished the game with 38 yards, and accounted for two touchdowns (one passing, one rushing) after one quarter of play.

Spokane hosts the Tampa Bay Storm Friday night at 8 PM for a rematch of ArenaBowl XXIII.
