SPOKANE, Wash. -- A couple in Spokane is preparing for one of the biggest games in 12th man history.
Mark and Paula Mays have been making the drive from their home in Spokane over to Seattle to watch the Seahawks play for the past 20 years. Now, they are going to the Super Bowl.
Inside the Mays’ house, they are getting ready for Super Bowl XLVIII. Their grandkids made signs for Mark and Paula to bring on the plane Friday.
They were also faced with the decision on what to wear.
“I have Seahawks jacket and my boots. I did shop all around town for a Richard Sherman jersey and they’re all out. Couldn’t find any of those,” said Paula Mays.
The Mays’ went to their first Seahawks game 20 years ago early in their marriage and they have been to every home game since.
Between the two, Paula has the biggest passion for football. She was the first female athletic director at the University of Montana and worked for the Florida Gators.
“Football is so interesting it’s not just where the ball is as we see on TV, it’s the line,” said Paula.
These diehard fans will try to get some sleep Thursday night before they watch their dedication payoff on Sunday.
“No matter what your religion, no matter what your political persuasion, it’s go hawks, it’s a nice thing, it’s a shared experience,” said Mark Mays.
