The NFL season is underway. Are the Seahawks headed back to the top of the pack? And will Russell Wilson finally reach MVP status? Here are some national media predictions for the season.
Tom Pelissero – Seahawks defeat Patriots in Super Bowl. Russell Wilson will be league MVP.
Jarrett Bell – Seahawks lose Super Bowl to Steelers. He also thinks Wilson will be MVP.
Lorenzo Reyes – Seahawks win NFC West, do not reach Super Bowl
Nate Davis – Seahawks get wild card, miss Super Bowl
Mike Middlehurst-Schwarz – Ditto
John Clayton, Chris Berman, and Matt Hasselbeck are among the 11 hosts, reporters, and analysts who predict the Seahawks will hoist the Lombardi Trophy. Four more think they’ll win the NFC title.
Twelve of them think Russell Wilson will be the league MVP.
When they’re not crunching election polls, the folks at FiveThirtyEight are looking at sports. And they predict Seattle has the second best chance to win the Super Bowl behind Denver. The Broncos have a 12 percent chance followed by the Seahawks at 10 percent.
After running several simulated seasons, the site says the average number of wins for Seattle is 10.5 with a point differential of plus-88 for the season.
Curtis Crabtree and Michael David Smith have the Seahawks winning it all. Zac Jackson has them losing to the Steelers.
Josh Alper has Seattle falling to the Packers at Lambeau Field in the conference championship.
Mike Florio and Darin Gantt have the Seahawks losing in the Divisional Roud.
Peter King likes Russell Wilson as MVP.
But none of the seven staffers at Sports Illustrated’s MMQB like the Seahawks to even make it to Super Bowl LI, All of them have Seattle at least making the playoffs.
Jason LaCanfora, John Breech, and Sean Wagner-McCough pick a Seahawks win in Super Bowl LI. Four others are going a different route.
La Canfora and Breech are saying Wilson will be the Super Bowl MVP and Wagner-McCough is says running back Thomas Rawls will be the player of the game.
As for league MVP, Ryan Wilson, Jared Dubin, and Wagner-McCough say Russell wins it. And Breech says
Christine Michael will be the breakout player of the year.
All seven on the panel think the Seahawks will come out of the gate 4-0.
