Cougs snap season-opener skid, beat Montana St. 31-0

After five long years, the Cougs can finally say they won their season opener. The Cougs used a stifling defense and Falk was untouchable in their 31-0 win.

PULLMAN, Wash. -- The Washington State Cougars snapped a five-year season-opener losing streak in dominating fashion Saturday night, shutting out FCS opponent Montana State 31-0.

Luke Falk was masterful in his first game-action of the 2017 season. He completed his first 20 passes, falling only six short of the FBS record for consecutive completions.

Falk did earn one record though --- he now is the all-time touchdown passing leader in Washington State team history.

Up next for the Cougs is a rematch with Boise St, who beat the Cougs last season to send them into an 0-2 start to their season. That game is at Martin Stadium and is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
