KENT, Wash. -- The Spokane Chiefs won their third straight game as two third period goals snapped a 1-1 tie and lifted Spokane to a 3-1 victory over the Seattle Thunderbirds Friday night.
Both teams went scoreless in the first period as Seattle outshot Spokane 14-7 in the period.
Seattle would break the scoreless tie with a power play goal at 17:13 of the second period. Spokane’s Kyle Beach would even the game at one less than a minute later with a wrister from the slot at 18:06. Beach’s team leading 14 goal of the season, and 9th in his last 6 games, was assisted by Jared Cowen and Brendan Kichton.
Blake Gal would snap a wrister in the low slot on Mitch Wahl feed at 11:24 of the third period to give Spokane a 2-1 lead. Levko Koper also picked up an assist on the Gal game winner. Wahl would seal the win with his fourth goal of the year on an empty netter with 1:07 left.
James Reid made 28 saves to pick up his third straight win.
The Chiefs return home to the Spokane Arena to host the Vancouver Giants on Saturday night at 7pm.
