SPOKANE, WA. -- The Spokane Chiefs won their half of a home-and-home series with the Kootenay Ice on Saturday night with a 3-1 decision in front of 6,702 in the Spokane Arena.
The win is their third in a row at home and avenges their 4-3 loss on Friday night in Cranbrook, BC. The Chiefs are now 5-3-1-0 on the season with 11 points in nine games. The Ice scored the lone goal of the first period with the man advantage, one of three they had in the opening frame, when Dominik Pacovsky deflected a Hayden Rintoul shot past newly acquired Michael Tadjdeh. The goal was the lone blemish of the 18-year-old’s night as he stopped 24 shots, including 11 in the third period. The Chiefs were 6-7 on the penalty kill. All three Spokane goals were scored five-on-five with markers coming from Steve Kuhn, Kyle Beach and Kenton Miller. Kuhn tallied his second of the year at 15:37 of the second period with assists coming from Brenden Kichton, who earned the third star, and Mitch Wahl. Beach’s shot from the bottom of the left circle at 1:57 of the third acted as the game winner. Miller’s second goal in as many games at 11:28 finished the scoring. The Chiefs outshot Kootenay for the second straight night, 34-25. Spokane will take the ice again next Satu
