Not only was Indians Manager Tim Hulett named the Northwest Manager of the Year, but two Spokane Indians players, pitchers Wilfredo Boscan and Tim Murphy, also made the All-Star squad.

Hulett is in his second year managing the Indians (46-23) and has his team on the verge of clinching the Northwest League East Division with seven games to go. Hutlett managed the Indians to a 33-42 record last season.

Boscan, a native of Maracaibo, Venezuela, has been one of the top pitchers in the Northwest League. Boscan’s record stands at 8-1 and he has an ERA of 3.32 through 62.1 innings. Boscan also leads the Indians bullpen with 66 strikeouts, which currently ranks second in the Northwest League. Boscan was signed by the Rangers as an international free agent in 2007.

Murphy, who is not currently with the Indians after being promoted to the Rangers affiliate in Clinton, Iowa, was a force on the mound in 13 appearances for Spokane. Murphy went 3-1 with a 3.03 ERA in 32.2 innings. Murphy fanned 40 Northwest League batters in 32.2 innings, giving him an average of more than one strikeout per inning. Murphy was selected in the 3rd Round of the 2008 MLB Draft by the Rangers out of UCLA.
