Huskies move up to No. 4 in polls; Cougs almost in Top 25

SEATTLE -- The Washington Huskies moved up to No. 4 in both major college polls following Saturday's blowout win over the Oregon State Beavers.

And the Washington State Cougars are just outside of the top 25.

The Huskies (7-0) were able to move up one spot thanks to its 41-17 win combined with Penn State's upset of formerly undefeated Ohio State.

Washington trails Alabama, Michigan, and Clemson respectively in both the Associated Press and USA TODAY Coaches polls.

Washington faces what may be its toughest test of the season next Saturday when they visit 7-1 Utah (No. 17 AP, No. 16 coaches).

Multiple college bowl projection polls predict Washington will play in the national semifinals should they remain undefeated.

The Cougars are listed just outside the top 25 in both polls following their 37-32 win over Arizona State. The Cougars have won five in a row after an embarrassing season-opening loss to Eastern Washington and a close loss to Boise State. They face Oregon State next Saturday.

The Huskies and Cougars are tied with a 4-0 conference record. If they continue to win, the Apple Cup Nov. 25 could determine the Pac-12 North champion.
