SPOKANE -- A 29-year-old Geiger Corrections inmate escaped from a crew working at Hoopfest Friday night.
Gary J. Todd was serving time for a DUI conviction and was scheduled to be released in October.
Geiger Corrections had five teams of inmates setting up equipment for Hoopfest in downtown Spokane. Todd's team had finished their duties just before midnight when he asked to use a Porta Potty near the Opera House.
When he did not return after five minutes, his security guard checked the bathroom and found the inmates discarded jumpsuit and goggles.
Sheriff's deputies say it appeared Todd had a change of clothing ready, Geiger staff believe the escape was planned, but say Todd is not a danger to the community.
Anyone with information about Todd's whereabouts is asked to call 911.
